The shaded band is the extra cost of going the dollar route. Hover the chart to read an hour, click to pin it. Every point is a real captured price.

Each line is the same route priced at a different published fee tier, against the cheapest ordinary provider as the dashed line. The discounted tiers are not drawn yet: the collector does not read volume-tier fees from history, so there is nothing measured to draw.

The same transfer priced across every provider quoting it right now, cheapest first, with the dollar route ranked among them. A negative figure is a promotional rate — better than the official exchange rate, funded by the provider, and usually only for a first transfer. Large institutions get private pricing that is not visible here.

How the numbers are made

Every number on this site comes from one of three places, and each number is marked with which.

Measured. Every hour, the site pulls live prices from each exchange and each transfer provider, at real transfer sizes, and records the official exchange rate at the same moment. Everything is stored raw.

From published fee pages. Exchange fees can't be read from live prices, so they come from each exchange's own fee page, checked by hand. {{ takerProse }}. Each fee shows the date it was last checked, because fees change and an outdated fee makes every number after it wrong.

Not visible. Large institutions get private pricing from companies like Nium and Thunes. I can't see those prices, so they are not on this site. I don't estimate them.

If a price fails to come in, that failure is recorded and shows as a gap in the charts. Nothing on this page is smoothed, estimated or filled in — a number that could not be measured is left blank and says so.

Definitions

The gap

How far the price of a digital dollar on a local exchange sits from the official exchange rate captured in the same second, as a percentage. A plus means people there pay more than the official rate to get a dollar.

What a transfer costs

Everything it takes to get money from one bank account to another, as a share of the amount sent: what the digital dollar costs above the official rate at each end, what each exchange charges, and the blockchain fee. Compared against the cheapest ordinary provider quoting the same amount in the same second.

Bar scale

The bars use a compressed scale so a country sitting 0.06% from the official rate stays visible next to one sitting 16% away.

Backfill

History before August 2026 is daily, not hourly. It shows in charts as history, never as hourly coverage.

Reference rates

Official exchange rates from open.er-api.com, with the fawazahmed0 currency dataset for the daily history. Every gap on this page is measured against the official rate stored in the same row as the price, not a rate looked up later.
